NausetMarshOverlookBeachPlums
Oil on Panel 9 x 12 Available
In mid-May the beach plums are in bloom on this part of the Cape. At the Coast Guard station by Coast Guard Beach, there is an overlook from the parking lot to the Nauset Marsh and the outer beach. The beach plums abound but are on a very steep part of the overlook, and so the blooms are lovely, but the September fruit is nearly impossible to harvest, meaning that the plum pits can foster more beach plum bushes to help hold up the landscape where the sea tries all winter to encroach. This will be part of a series of paintings of the Cape Cod National Seashore that I will show this summer at the outdoor art show in Eastham by the historic schoolhouse across from the National Seashore Visitors' Center.
